EPISODE 2: LEARNERS CHARACTERISTICS AND NEEDS

LEARNERS DEVELOPMENT MATRIX

Development Domain	Highschool:  Grade 7 students                 @ age of 11-12 yrs old.
Physical	High section And lower section students are similar in terms in their physical; the way the move, walk or run in the classroom.And also thier writing, drawing and etc. skills.
Social	They were interact with thier teacher as needed, but most of students in lower section tends to be more aggressive even it is a nonsense questions or answer. As what I've observed.
Emotional	As I look at them, they are always smiling while they are talking. When students quarrel  one of his classmate will shout and said to their teacher " sir ga away sila".
Cognitive	High section and lower sections are different in term of their cognitive characteristics, based on my observation higher class are have more ideas and high knowledge more than lower section.

ANALYSIS

LEVEL	SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS OBSERVED	IMPLICATIONS TO THE TEACHING- LEARNING PROCESS
Highschool Age range of learners observed 11-12 yrs. old	High school students talk more with thier classmates. Whe the teacher discuss their lesson they dont even listen.	Teacher should anticipate of what his students doing.   Teachers will have a strong patients in his students.

REFLECTION

               As I observed the learners,and as to recall my elementary and highschool days. In my own experience, our similarities just like them are that I always listen to the teachers discussions and cooperate when there is an activity. On the other hand, our differences is that I have this attitude that if I already understand the lesson I will not listen anymore to my teacher but instead I will do talking with my seatmates. Unlike the students I observed up to the last minute of the class they still listen very eagerly to their teacher.


               The teacher I cannot forget was Maam. Mary Catera one of the terror teacher in my Alma Mater. She is known to be very strict, but very excellent in teaching; she’s also known to give so many handwritten outlines as a requirement for her to pass her subject. I remembered she is fond of recitations and she calls us in random, that’s why before attending class all of us make it sure that we reviewed the past lessons and make advanced reading on the next lesson because we don’t want her to get mad to us because we are too scared about what might happen. But as time pass by, I discovered that beyond her strict face and strong personality is a very loving and caring heart for her students. And now as I think of her, I also wanted to give credit to her because that helped me a lot academically and emotionally. The efforts I exerted, patience and perseverance helped me a lot for what knowledge I have now..
